On being cold
It's been snowing for about 30 hours here, although there hasn't really been much accumulation - maybe an inch total. But that tracks; it's still November, and winter in Michigan doesn't really get going until late December. It's still pretty cold outside, though. A month ago it was in the 70s and today the high was 26ºF.
I went to spend the afternoon with my mom today; she's doing better every day, but she's still a fall risk, and my father had to be out of town for a couple hours so he wanted someone on hand in case something happened. (Nothing did.) But a strange thing happened while I was there: my body temperature dropped nearly a full degree and I started shivering uncontrollably, and no matter what I tried I couldn't get warm again. I had to come home and lie under a blanket for an hour and a half before I started feeling normal again. (In fairness, I spent much of that asleep.)
Even now, I'm still chilly, and I'm wearing a sweater and warm socks, and have a space heater pointed at me. But my body temperature's come back up, so I think this is just normal chilly. Whew.
